Bluebelles face a Giant task in Round 1

All roads to the AFL Quebec Women's Championship go through the NDG Giants. Since the inception of the women's competition in 2014 the NDG squad have been the benchmark of the competition etching their name on the cup twice and always being a force to be reckoned with. While the Giants lost some of their engine room power to the Bluebelles in the expansion draft, they still have some of the league's premier talent in Parrod, Bureau, Bartulovic, Rutkowska and Royer just to name a few. Add to that list a host of exciting new rookies and the Giants will again be doing what they do best in 2018 - winning. The Bluebelles challenge will be to see how quickly their new squad can form a balanced cohesion. Expansion picks Besner, Dufour, Leduc, Andrusyshyn and Dumais will provide the core for a squad that is laden with rookies, but rookies like Colnat, Villi and Holman that promise to make a big impact this year. The opening women's match of the season promises to be a spectacle, and while the Giants will enter favourites, the Belles will be quietly confident they can pull off an early season upset.
