Bluebelles Edged By Giants In Opener
The Montreal City Bluebelles recovered from a 29 point first quarter deficit to fall a heartbreaking one goal short to the NDG Giants last Sunday. The Belles inexperience was laid bare in the opening term as the Giants piled on 5 goals to the Belles 1 behind. Evelyne Moisan was in sublime form up forward for the orange army causing havoc for the City defenders. With a more defensive approach from the second quarter the Belles started to build some team chemistry and like a gathering storm changed the entire outlook on the game. Dufour and Leduc were everywhere for the Navy Blue, the Belles taking 9 scoring shots to 1 during the 2nd and 3rd terms. Six points adrift heading into the final term the game became an arm wrestle, the Giants gaining some breathing space with a goal and the Belles responding with one of their own soon after. The final siren ended an entertaining first round of AFLQ Women's, the Giants recording a hard earned first win.
